So, you want to build a new home on a hillside?
You may wish to attend the meeting on February 17, 2009 at Peck Park Community Center to learn more about the new plans for allowing residential building on hillsides throughout the city of Los Angeles.
You may just want to prepare yourself for the folks holding the meeting to not have a clue about the uniqueness of some of the hillsides in San Pedro.
This meeting may be similar to the recent meeting when folks came down from Downtown L.A. and from the Mayor's office and gave a talk about Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's 5-year, 5-Billion Dollar housing plan for low income and workforce housing needs in Los Angeles.
San Pedro has hillsides, some with seashells imbedded in them.
San Pedro has hillsides that occasionally slip, fall, and crash into the Pacific Ocean.
Who knows, there may be some comedy during the meeting when the folks will probably supply a slide on their PowerPoint Presentation and cut off San Pedro or place the community's name bisecting Pacific Coast Highway like the Mayor's folks did.
There are quite a few of us who live on San Pedro Hill and other smaller hills in San Pedro.
It may turn out to be the very best meeting of the entire year. But I think I'll pass on betting on that.
